Hello, my waverunner starts fine and runs fine but only if the choke is 1/2 open? It stalls out if the choke is off regardless of how long it has been running. A few years ago a dealer "drilled" out a strainer plate of salt from the ocean and I was wondering if that may be the problem and if so where in the engine is the location of that strainer.
Thanks

If you need to run with the choke patially on then you are running too lean, choke on means less air and more fuel. You should check compression first, the cyclinders should be with in 10%-15% hight to low numbers. Low compression has a harder time pulling fuel/air from the carbs. Second, take carbs off and clean them, you could have some pluged jets etc, buy carb kits and install. Buy a fuel pump rebuild kit also and new fuel lines. If all of these items are looked into and corrected you should not have a problem.

if you buy genuine Mikuni rebuild kits, it comes with the fuel pump diaphragms in the kit.

time for a carb rebuild. ONLY use genuine mikuni kits AND don't forget to replace the needles and seats as well...they don't come in the carb rebuild kit but are a big reason why people have carb issues.
