1996 Yamaha 90 coughing at idle

hello i have run into this problem where i hit a couple lil waves that bounced preaty hard and then the boat just lacked power made it back to dock but wasn t able to figure out. It couch and shakes at idle but runs great at higher rmps but when on the water it wouldn t go past 2500 really dont know that much about the boat motors so any help would be appreciated thanks alot.
