Recently purchased this ski from a friend of mine who is the original owner. The ski sat unused for about three years in the Arizona desert. is in great condition and no corrosion in the engine compartment. I installed a new battery and a tank full of new gas and backed it on the trailer into the river and ran it for about thirty minutes to see if it was "OK" from sitting for so long. Every thing seemed good till the kids took it out the first day. It ran great, but the battery light came on and the battery so discharged to a point where the ski stated to run bad ( low voltage) and would not start. I recharged the battery so I could check to see if the stator was putting out any voltage. I then noticed that the multifunction gauge cluster was operational even after the thirty seconds from lanyard being removed. During my trouble shooting, I noticed there is no "beep" when lanyard is installed. I'm' sure these problems are some how related to each other , but I don't know where to start.

Maybe try putting a volt meter on the battery while it is off and then put one on after it is running and see if the voltage increases while it is running...maybe its a fuse

that has the 787 engine and the ignition runs off the battery, your stator apparently is not charging could be a bad rectifier in the front electrical box if so it probably blew the fuse so look in the front box and see if it has a blown fuse, I found a lot of those with a bad field and they hatch the fuse the second you conect the fields, I also have a way to get around the problem if it is a bad field winding in the stator without replacing it.
