1996 sea doo gtx warning code?

I have a 96 GTX and was wondering if when this unit blinks "MAINT" if it has detected a problem or if it will automatically sent this message after so many hous of use. i ont see anything in the owners manual. any suggestions would be great

don't you just hate that,, it is just a money maker program that comes on at pre determined intervals hold down the set and mode buttons with the key on and it will usually clear that from the info center after a few starts, now they have to go to the dealer to be turned off , it is a pain in the butt. all the new ones have the maint flashing because most people will not bring it in to be turned off. Im waiting for mine to do it .
