My 1996 Mercury XR6 150 HP is having an ignition problem. One cylinder on each bank is not firing, or is barely firing. The boat runs pretty good, but not as good as it should. Boat shops in our area are totally backed up, waiting list is about 7 weeks out to get looked at. Would this most likely be an ignition coil problem, a trigger problem, or even a plug wire problem? The plugs are brand new. Compression is great and balanced on all 6 cylinders. Im a decent old school car / motorcycle mechanic, but outboards are a different animal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Ignition system has a single stator with windings for low and high speed of all cylinders. It has 2 switchboxes for cylinders 1,3,5 and 2,4,6 respectively, and 3 triggers for 1,4; 2,5 and 3,6.

So which cylinders are acting up?
