Recently purchased a bass boat powered by 1996 mercury force 120.

took it home hooked up the muffs. tried to fire it up didn't know it had an on/off switch (my four winns bow rider doesn't have one, force of habit I guess) anyway flooded the heck out of it. Realized my problem let it dry out for a while, then it started first time. two issues.

1. don't know terminology but seal between lower unit and next segment is leaking oil.

2. although I have exhaust and water from behind prop have no water from pee hole. Only run at idle speed.

any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Couple tricks on it not pumping. I have the same year motor. Mine needs to be straight up and down with a fair amount of water pressure on the muffs to get any water flow. Be careful to check for good peeing when you do get it to the lake. I smoked a piston because i fouled up my water pump running it on the muffs without enough water pressure.

Yeah I always turn the water pressure up half way or more when I'm running on the muffs. Hopefully that's it. Running it too long without water circulating will cause major problems.

Also, I find that my 1996 Force 120 (and apparently some other Force motors that I've read about on here) seems to flood rather easily and then there isn't a chance in heck of starting it until the fuel drains.
