Ok guys, a 1996(thought it was a 1995) seriel number OG343206. Has been surging with cylinders cutting in and out. Problem exists at idle and all the way through powerband. I think ive found the problem, an ignition component with 2 red wires, 2 yellow wires and 1 gray wire has obviously been hot, as some of the epoxy has started to melt. 2 questions, what part is that?, and what could have caused it to get so hot? I would hate to fix the obvious, and miss what caused the problem.

Thanks for your help.

ok, an update, turns out this is the voltage regulator. Will this cause the misfire cylinder cutting in and out symptons I described? What causes one of them to get hot? Still looking for the cause.

Thanks
