Trying to get my 1996 ELHO 2 stroke started. New mixed gas, carburetor, fuel pump, fuel filter, and plugs. Starts right up with a gas/oil mix via spray bottle to the carb, but doesn’t continue to run. No fuel leaks and tank primer ball and fuel pump deliver fuel to the carb bowl (checked both systems with bowl drain screw removed ). There’s no choke (manual or electric), and no electric primer solenoid- although the key pushes in. I changed the primer bulb- ie, the pushable rubber button above the oil resovoir because it seemed dry rotted from sitting, but I lost track of the routing of the fuel lines to and from the button. There’s a line coming from bottom of the powerhead- cowling level. That went into a tee with 2 lines coming out. Then there’s a line coming off a barbed fitting on the carburetor. That totals 3 open line ends with only 2 barbs on the primer button- one longer than the other. I’m not even sure if the primer button is the problem, but was hoping someone could help with this issue. Thanks!
Note: I’m calling the squeezable ball on the fuel line from tank a primer BAll; and the carburetor purge system a primer BULB.

You probably have a fuel enrichment solenoid operated by the ignition key when in the ON-Start position and pushed in which is a starting aid. You didn't say what HP your engine is. On my 2002 90 and 115 at the top front of the engine (cowl removed) is a device about the diameter of a half US dollar coin and about 2" long. It has a black, plastic plunger stub sticking out the top and fuel lines routed through it to the intake manifold at the rear of the carburetors.

The plunger can be manually pushed or if the key is used, when activated you can see the plunger partially get sucked into the valve assy signaling the fact that it has energized. If you disconnect the outlet hose and have the squeeze bulb firm, upon activating the key as described will allow fuel should shoot out where you removed the hose....if it is working properly.

Thanks for responding. I know what you mean about the solenoid activated key switch primer, but this engine doesn’t have that. The key pushes in, but the wires from the controls don’t connect to anything. It’s a Mercury 30 HP ELHO. No electric primer or manual choke- only the purge button above the engine mounted oil resovoir. I’ll try to include a picture of it. My problem is that I don’t know where the hoses from the 2 barbs on the primer button go. One hose comes out from under the powerhead and went into a plastic tee that snapped. Another hose comes from a brass barb on the carburetor. Not sure where the extra line iff the tee went. So, 3 open fuel hoses , but inly 2 primer button barbs.
