I have a '96 Mariner 9.9 4 stroke. I just purchased it. I don't have a service manual for it but I was hoping that one of you could enlighten me. On left side of the carb., looking at the motor from the boat. There is a brass needle valve type screw toward the bottom of the carb. It is about a 5/16" hex head with a screw driver slot as well. The guy I bought it from told me it was a fuel drain for the carb. I don't really buy that. It appears to be a fuel air mixture adjustment screw. It has an O-ring on it and not a sharp needle point but kind of blunt. I am hoping someone can tell me what it is for. I tried backing it out about 1 turn and fuel did drip slowly from it. Maybe the O-ring needs replaced. Anyway any help would be appreciated.

Rog

It is a plug for the carburetor bowl, it should be snugly screwed in.
