1996 +, Johnson system check tach setting

Hi. Just bought a Faria system check tach for my 2002 90hp johnson. No instructions came with it. there is an adjustment on the back...pulse/rev, which can be set to 5 or 6. 5 is 10 pole, 6 is 12 pole?? Which would I use for a 2002 v4 90hp?? thanks alot.

The '98 V4s used the 5P setting. I dont know if it is the same for the later models, like you have. I would start with the 5p setting and see if the tach appears to read correctly. You should see 800-900 at idle.

A service manual or Owners manaul should tell you.
