1996 force 120 no spark top cylinder

hey hey, my 1996 force 120 just recently lost spark on the top cylinder. was running fine until it suddenly bogged down, and then had a hard time getting over about 3000 rpm rest of the day. I changed out the coil with a working coil, no change. I have intermittent power on the black and yellow wire the runs from the stator to the coil but no spark. the trigger looks good with no obvious melting, scraping or other damage, but the stator has a little scrape and what looks like yellow and black wires showing. all magnets are on the flywheel and it looks almost new.

Look at outboardignitiondotcom, they have troubleshooting chart for the ignition system.
I suppose you have the Mercury Thunderbolt ignition system as it is a 1996.
