I am looking at a boat with two 1996 Evinrude 200
hp Ocean Pro's on it. The owner claims 350 hours on the engines. Can any one tell me what to expect in the way of maint, time before major repair, and total run times before rebuild or major repair from this engine providing the maint has been reasonable up to this point.

With proper maintenance and operation, (no lugging, over-reving, over-heating, etc.) those engines should last 2-3000hrs. before a major overhaul. Maybe more. I just depends on how they're operated and maintained.

c/6
Hooty

I would say that first off, you will need 12 spark plugs plus 24 spares, 2 VRO pumps, 12 carb rebuild kits, 12 recirculation valves, 4 thermostats, 2 blow off valves, and 2 fuel priming bulbs.
And maybe 2 voltage regulators, 2 power packs, and possibly 2 warning horns, 2 stators, and 2 timing bases with wiring harnesses.

Don't ask me how I know.

He asked what to expect in the way of maintenence.
7 year old motor, low hours, just about where I was this time last year. I am not alone, am I.

(misery loves company)
