1996 Evinrude 150 hp will not idle. What to do????????????

Purchased a evinrude with low and uneven compression tore down and honed and rerung, when put back together the thing will not idle, when you get past the low idle it runs good but just will not idle. Please help me

did you overhaul carbs, readjust? sounds like low idle circuit may be plugged.

What idle RPM do you have it set at?

the carbs were cleaned and o-rings replaced, I do not know what idle rpm this thing is set at how do I check or set that

You need a tach or an inductive timing light with a built in tach to check your idle RPM. When you set your timing did you have the quick start feature disabled? If it wasn't that could be causing issues for you too. How many turns out do you have your low speed jets? The starting point is 1 1/4 turns and work from there on all three carbs.

I have the low speed jets out 5 turns that is where the book said to start from and I have 6 carbs

My mistake on the carbs. Yes you have six and the procedure for setting them is a pain. Are you using the factory service manual or one of the others? The initial setting in the book is only to get the motor running you need to adjust all six until it idles right.

Needs a bit more initial information to sort it out.

What is the compression now?
RPM numbers need to be posted .

Idle speed is set with the timing .

If you think its fuel related then try hitting the choke and see if that keeps it running at idle, if not then its timing.
Make sure the ignition is set up by the book.

Check the throttle roller timing arm adjustment ,
have you got the clear plastic sleeve on the roller?
