Please help! I have a 1996 150 Hp Evenrude motor. what it does is after running for a few minutes, it locks up at 3000rpm. If I am cruising, it goes back to 3000, if I am idleing, it goes up to 3000. The only way to stop it is to turn the key off. It repeats this every time I restart. It runs perfect untill is starts, and run perfect after I restart it for about 20 seconds. No matter how many times I restart it, it runs fine for about 20 seconds and then goes to 3000. I have two engins, so this eliminates a gas problem as the other one runs fine. t is a carborated engine. Please help me soon!!!!!!
