1996 bayliner Jazz merc 120xr

hello this is my first post, and for some reason ispell check erased the first and Super detailed post before i got it up sooo. here is the condensed version.

i got a bayliner jazz, does any one from experience got any pointers on what to look out for so i wont get stranded in the water, and maintenance i might want to stay on top?
PS: If any One knows were to find parts cheaper please feel free to mention that =)
