I have owned a bow rider for the last 3 summers and looking for a larger boat. We don't tube or ski and really do not have a desire to do so. We enjoy cruising the open water, dropping anchor and relaxing and visiting new destinations. I have a membership at a Marina near Lake MI and looking to dock a boat there. I have been looking for an introductory cabin cruiser to get used to a different style of boat before stepping up to a larger cabin cruiser. With that said I was looking to keep the boat around the 24' size.

I have found two boats that really have my attention. I like both boats but I am leaning towards the Four Winns at this moment. I like the layout of the boat and it was barely used. Older couple owned it and it is pristine for the year. The only downside to this boat (IMO) is the small engine 5.0L 220hp and the beam is 8'. But I am a novice and don't know much about these manufactures or this style of boat. Is one better than the other? Anything I should be aware of in regards to checking on the maintenance with either boat?

I am meeting with both boat dealers tomorrow to complete a final inspection, walk-through and make a decision.

Thank you for your help! I look forward to cruising Lake MI this weekend in our new boat.

I currently have a 94 Chaparral Signature 24, similar to the Four Winds your looking at. I have a 5.7 engine in mine. I also have a friend with a 24' Bayliner Cruiser with a 5.0. My boat is a little heavier than the Bayliner and his is 10 years newer. They both have similar performance.
