I am checking the boat above to buy used, has been overhauled and the motor is in good shape. Can anyone share his experience with this kind of boat (or just what he knows about them). I?ve heard Bayliner is pretty down the line hull-wise; if this is true can anyone please elaborate. What kind of problems with Bayliner?

It's not so much the brand & year- it's the "mileage"--how it was kept and maintained.

Same here and this one looks sharp after the overhaul, had the motor checked and was okayed.
However have heard some nasty comments on bayliners from the past, thus reference to make & year.
Cheers

by the mid 90's bayliner worked hard to shake the image of rotted hulls.

however any boat can be a bad one......this is due to the owner...not the boat. even a really carpy built boat can be good if it was well kept.

what you are looking for.....is rot.... open the ski locker.....and look.....take a sharp screwdriver....and start poking into the stringers....(they make the walls of the ski locker).
and around the transom.... you are looking for the screwdriver to hit solid wood. not mush....if mush.....walk.

feel the deck.....stomp around....in particular between the windsheild walkway......and in front of the rear jumpers. lift the battery and look at the deck.....see if there is any rot beneath the battery.

another good thing to do ....is weigh the boat against manufacturers specs......if its too heavy....by 100 lbs....that means the boat is holding water in the foam or wood.
just make sure you empty the gas tank or do the math and account for it in the weight in.

Capri L 2500? I have not heard of that model. Bayliner only shows Capris up to 2250 for that year. Make sure the "L" does not stand for "L" drive. L drives were a short lived idea from Bayliner that basicly took an old 2 stroke outboard, and made it an I/0. There was a bunch of problems with these, and parts are very hard to find today. You don't want one of those. If the year is correct, it shouldn't be an "L" drive. Being a '96 it should have a black mercruiser in it.

PS: Maybe it was just a typo, and you meant Capri 2050 CL, which having a '97, know almost exactly what you are looking at. ;)

He meant what did the previous owner do to constitute an overhaul. As in, did it get a new deck? new stringers? new transom? ETC.
