I bought this motor at a garage sale , guy said it ran 1 1/2 yr ago. Now I dont think he was telling all he new. First I had to order a HDI box then a coil. Now the fun starts. I can get the the motor to run for say 2 minutes then she will shut down like she is out of fuel. primer Ball is hard, took hose off after fuel pump with motor running, seems to be putting plenty fuel to carb. SHE WILL ONLY START WITH THE HELP OF CARB. CLEANER. Thought I would add that. When she shuts down the head seems to be hotter that I would think. I am running this in a big trash can. Not on a garden hose. Took carb off and did a simple cleaning, seemed a little dirty, cleanen up with carb cleaner and air hose, put back together and now she wont start at all; Seems I got a fuel problem and a heat problem at same time. Thinking about ordering a thermostat, not sure what to do next. All help is appreciated as usual

I had this exact motor. A "simple" cleaning of the carb isn't good enough. Take it off , (carefully), and do a thorough cleaning. Be careful though, cause back in 2014ish there were limited carbs available, so if you jack this one up, you might be SOOL Yes, if you are using a trash can the water will get hot. Don't do that, use muffs.

I removed the carburetor again. I finally found out how to remove the main jet. The main jet was plugged. I unplugged it, put it back on the motor. Thought I would check the fuel pump was not putting out fuel this time

Well here I am again, Sorry I started another thread and forgot I had this one going. To update. The motor will only start on carb cleaner. There don't appear to be a choke on this model.I have had carb off 3 times, I am sure that is not a problem anymore. I rebuilt the fuel pump. What am I missing. I saw a thread where a suggestion was to take compression test. I have gauges but they don't fit the plug holes. I pulled the oil filter cause I had nothing else to do. ITS FILTHY. Going to get new one and fresh oil. I don't think the motor not starting has anything to do with the filter but who knows? I looked in the carb and there don't appear to be a choke plate. This should tell me something but I don't know what. Im out of ideas
