Alright I have posted here before about how to go about replacing the water pump which I thought now was time to make sure she pumped, the motor is a 1996 Mercury 9.9 Tracker. I do not have a tank or fuel lines for the engine. I did have some 1/4 inch fuel line brand new to feed directly to the carb hook up. I set a 1 gallon gas tank on a ladder with the cap off and the fuel line in the fuel. I siphoned the gas till it freely poured out and quickly hooked up to the carb. The carb had gas spewing out on top of it where it says "Top". I know I should get all the correct fuel lines and tank but I wanted to see if it ran. Im wondering if im just forcing the float to stay open with the pressure of the fuel, just wondering if this is a issue or should It be fine if I get the correct fuel delivery system. After unflooding the carb the motor runs great with what fuel was left inside.
Also the engine does pump water nicely...
