Just bought a 1997 used 20' Voyager Pontoon wit a 96, 60hp Johnson engine. Motor Runs perfect however it top end only turn about 3600 rpms and boat seems slow compared to others of equal size. Any one have any info on how many RPM I should be turning and possible causes for slow speed?

Could be several things. Have you tried pumping the fuel bulb? When you pump the bulb, does it accelerate or is the bulb firm?

The bulb stays firm and engine rpm is consistant except when making hard quick turn the boat slows way down.

Sounds like it's only running on two cylinders. Could be spark or a clogged carb.

Good luck!

..... or you have a prop that is way to big for the engine. What pitch prop are you running ?

No idea what pitch prop I am running. Any Idea what I should be running and what normal rpm should be @ full throttle?
