1996 5.7LX EFI TBI Timing procedure

Need to know the correct timing procedure for my engines.

serial number 0F795028

1996 5.7LX EFI TBI with factory Delco distributor.

I have The rinda scan tool.

I’m getting mixed information in my searches. Specifically regarding the rpm during the timing procedure. Some say 650(idle),1200,1800 etc..

650 RPM in gear in the water.... for non EFI motors

However the Delco distributor on EFI motors must simply be installed correctly with the rotor mounted in the correct location when the motor is at TDC and the computer does the rest. there is a mark on the distributor

Scratch the previous, I was hung up on EST

There are 2 ways to put motor in base timing mode. Do it with your scanner or place a jumper in the DLC connector. In base timing mode adjust rpm to 1200 if ECM doesn't automatically change.

Set timing, return to idle and remove jumper or use scanner to
