1996 18 HP Nissan

I need a starter for this 18 hp Nissan. My repairman said it would be $200.00. I would like to spend less. Do you know any place online or a boat motor salvage place where I might could find one cheaper. Thanks in Advance. ED

Hmmm.<br /><br />What is wrong with the one you have, Ed? I don't remember the last time we had a part failure on a Nissan (Tohatsu).<br /><br />Many good starters get replaced because of low resistance connections in the high current circuit, broken brushes and other problems that can easily and economically be repaired.<br /><br />Try jumping directly from a good battery directly to the starter hot stud (+) and the engine block (-). <br /><br />If you are certain that the starter itself is bad, check out automotive starter repair shops. You could certainly get a basically sound starter rebuilt for less than $200.<br /><br />Good luck.
