1996 175 MERC OIL PUMP DRIVE

HAS ANY ONE EXPERIENCED A STRIPPED OIL PUMP DRIVE IN THIS OR EQUIVELENT MODELS?<br />DID MERCURY EVER RECALL FOR THIS FAULT?<br />MY ENGINE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY BUT HAS ONLY DONE 46 HOURS.<br />CAN ANY ONE HELP?<br />BILL

If the teeth are stripped on the plastic gear on the crankshaft, and the gear is not broken I would remove the oil injection and premix. Someone posted that their plastic gear broke and damaged the crankcase. Do search oil injection, merc.

Bass and Walleye Boats Mag. did a write up on this about six months ago. There is a steel gear available. It is recom. for alot of high speed running.

I LOVE thatpiece of cr#p plastic gear it has made me lots of money !......just kidding -really !that is one of the worst things about a merc with oil inj.have seen alot of them fail and it is cruel to the owner of that motor
