Guys,

I couldn't find any posts relating to this so here's a quick question.

My father has a 23' Regulator with twin 150 HP Ocean Pros V6. He's the third owner of this boat that has spent all of its time in Saltwater. He had it serviced last spring and they replaced the water pumps on both engines. He doesn't use it very hard, he just tools around in it and he told me that he occasionally gets the overheat alarm when idling around the canals in his neighborhood.

I took it out this morning to see if I could replicate the problem. After running it hard and at cruising speed for about an hour it never overheated. However, after extended time idling around at canal speed (about 30 minutes) the port engine alarm goes off. I opened the cover and noticed that the port's engine heads were considerably hotter than the starboard.

Both engines appear to be circulating the same amount of water out the tell-tail and the flusher thingys on the engine are installed correctly.

Is this a symptom of a bad water pump or hopefully not blockage of the passages or some sort of gasket problem.

Any ideas, I'm visiting him and his tools and resources are pretty limited here.
