Hello all I have a question about shift linkage. Late last season I was out and was having some motor issues in strong current . On my way back desperately trying to return to the dock something strange happened all of the sudden the safety device that prevents you from advancing the throttle in neutral switched to keeping me from bringing the throttle above start position in fwd gear and no longer stopped the throttle in neutral. So yesterday I decided to mess with it ( I had planned to bring to a mechanic ..something I've never done before but I'm in ny and most everything is shut down so those funds now buy food instead ...whataya gonna do ?) So I have adjusted the ends of the rods and seem to have gotten it to number one feel like it's much more locked in gear in forward and reverse and two fixed the throttle safety issue I was having . But now the lever that locks into the recoil in neutral to pull start isnt in the right place . Can I just adjust that to where it seems right and works . What would cause this in the first place? Thank you in advance for any response .

I received no useful response to this thread but did discover what would cause the linkage problems I was having ie seemingly reversed . If one In a emergency situation shifts from fwd gear to neutral with the throttle above the shift position. This will wreak havoc on your linkages .
