1996 120hp Force Lower Unit

Does anyone know which models Force, Chrysler ect Lower unit will interchange with a 1996 Force 120 hp Serial # OE169606?

I have been told by one source that nothing but the exact same engine will fit. I find this hard to believe.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Or if you have information as to where I can find a listing of interchangeable parts for outboards. Thanks

Well, you are limited to lower units from 1996 through 1999. Mercury changed to a Merc designed lower unit in thos last 4 years. Better to use the 120 but a lower from a 90 should fit too.
