I have had this wave runner since new and it has been perfect up till now. It idles perfect and starts right up great. But when you get going accross the lake and get going over 30mph the engine dies. It started doing this a little bit last year. But now it does it every time you go. By the time it coasts to a stop it will usually starts right back up. So I don't have time pull the seat off and check for spark or fuel or anything. Has anyone else had this problem?? What should I look for? Thanks for any help. FYI it only has 155 hours on it.

Are you doing routine maintenance on it, like changing the fuel filter regularly? Start there, change spark plugs, and you might have to take the carbs off and clean out the bucket filters inside the fuel pump section of the carbs, It's not hard. http://www.mikuni.com/pdf/sbn_manual.pdf

Also, check your high and low speed adjustments. For the 701 Venture, the LOW speed screws on both carbs is 5/8 turn out +or- 1/4. The HIGH speed screw is 5/8 turn out for the FRONT carb, 1 1/8 turns out for the REAR carb, both adjustments are +or- 1/4. Idle speed is 1250 rpm.

Could possibly be time for a carb rebuild too, if they sit too long the rubber diaphrams dry up and crack. I have 3 Ventures with 141, 279, and 366 hours, and have changed fuel filters every 2-3 years (supposed to change them every year) and cleaned carb filters once or twice and haven't had problems.
