1995 Yamaha 225 stalls

Help! I have this 225 yamaha that stalls when it is shifted from neutral. I don't mean that it sputters and stalls, it stops like the prop hit a log. It idles and shifts fine on the flusher. When in the water, it will stall after 20 seconds or so even in neutral without shifting. To get going, I give it a little throttle and start it in gear. (I know not entirely safe.) It will cruise and plane fine, but as soon as I slow to idle, it stalls out. All 6 carbs have been recently rebuilt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
