weird a 95 doesn't have a dess system so the only warning sound it makes is a overheat alarm,, so a beep is a bit unusual.. I would say starter,, solenoid,, battery cables or conections or battery or start stop switch,,barring a locked up engine or pump.
if you are wrong about the year and you have a dess system,, the electronic key or post reader is defective

your quick response is very much appreciated. I did disconnect the heat sensor with no luck. I will check your other suggestions and let you know.

thanks again.../

Checked fuses, ok. checked starter, ok. checked battery, ok. checked starter solenoid, ok. Engine cylinders clean. Able to turn engine over bypassing the solenoid. Getting no voltage to solenoid, still only 1 beep then nothing, release start button and repress beeps once more. The ski is definately a 1995 SP. last part of number is J495. Hope you can help...thanks

My 96 will beep if the laynard (not a dess system either) isn't making a good connection. To me (esp. seeing as you can bypass it and it works) that the laynard "switch" is bad.
