#0G176093. I am trying to find out why the bottom cylinder failed. When tearing it down for the rebuild I didn't see anything obvious with the gaskets the would cause it. the other cylinders are fine. The carbs were clean no junk that I could tell were in there. I'm putting a new water pump, thermostat, rebuilding the carbs, rebuilding the fuel pump. I want to eliminate any possibilities. When rebuilding the fuel pump I found sand in it and a check valve damaged. would that be enough to lower the fuel pressure where the lower cyl isn't getting enough fuel? Any thoughts? I'm having a bit of a tough time figuring out why that #4 cyl went out. Thanks!

The piston was scuffed pretty bad on the sides. The dome however was fine. Didn't have any bearing damage. I'll post a picture of it this evening.

Here are the picture of the damage, doesn't look like detonation to me but I could be wrong.

Thankfully the cylinder hone out nicely with no scratching on the walls.
