Hello, There is an oil or gear oil milky water mixture leaking just below the motor in the lower unit. Noticed it after the motor was turned off. Any ideas what's causing this? Thanks in advance.
This question is asked numerous times.-------My answer is always the same.----could be normal for a 2 stroke engine especially when idling for a long time or running in a barrel.-----Could be due to the motor thermostat stuck open.-------A suspected leak in the gearcase can be checked with a pressure test.
Does the stuff smell like gas? (Gear oil usually has a funky sulphur smell.)
It's almost certainly exhaust nasties, and usually flushes with use. Might check operating temp. (warm to the touch), and make sure you have a 50:1 mix with fresh fuel.
