I bought an old 1985 bayliner capri with a 1985 85hp force on it. I have been successful with getting it to start, rebuilt the carbs and did some maitnance to include replacing the starter. Now im having an electrical issue. The negative cable connected to the battery is getting very very hot.hot enough to melt the plastic. I noticed some corosion so i replaced the bus bars with new ones, and i replaced therectifier as the old one seemed to be burned out. The cable look fine and i cut them back to clean copper. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and if you have a solution.
I have checked the silinoid and it is operating as it should, and all ground connections to the block have been cleaned and preped. The only thing i have not done yet is check the ohms from the battery to the starter.
