I recently damaged the skag on my Force. The unit was removed and the repair was done very professionally. When I got it back it ran fine for about 5 hours. Then while pulling a tuber, I put it in forward and it did not go into gear. I tried a second time, nothing, so I tried reverse, that worked, I tried forward once again, nothing and finally I tried reverse again and nothing. I had the linkage adjusted and in the yard it was shifting fine, though we did not run it with muffs. When I launched it, reverse was great, but no forward gear. At no time was there any sound of grinding.

Now even manually, I can not set forward and at times, if shifting from reverse back to neutral, reverse sticks.

I have drained the unit and the lube is perfect, no indication of grinding. Any help you can provide would be great!

I am sorry, I first listed this in the I/O section, hope this correction is not a problem.

the skag was damaged while loading on the trailer, no damage to the prop or any other portion of the motor

Bear, thanks for those links, I assume I'll be able to find most of the other diagrams for the engine and unit as well? This may save me a lot of money.

Thanks Bear, the mechanic who looked at it, told me that when the skeg was welded and reassembled, a cotter pin was left out and after a few hours the linkage separated leaving me without forward. Seems to be back in order now. To tear it down and put it back together he charged $60, I think that was fair.

Thanks again for your help, I love the site.
