Hey Guys,

New to the forum and owning a boat as well. Last year I bought a 1995 Javelin 379 FS with a Evinrude Intruder 150, it was in great shape (I thought atleast). Last year off and on I was getting a hot alarm that went off occasionally. It is not a constant alarm, it goes on off, and there isn't a consistent pattern of how long on and how long off. The motor to my knowledge was not running hot though, and the stream coming out the back was good as well. If I shut it down and start it back up its fine.

One time last year it did go into SLOW mode.

Over the winter I replaced the temp swithc 0584152 and took it out once this year and it seems to be going off alot more. I test the temp on the head, where the plugs go in, around every plug multiple times when the alarm sounded and temp was anywhere from 103-114 F, which from what I am reading, does not seem like it is running hot.

The alarm goes off completely after it has been on while running sometimes, it seems faulty. I've read multiple forums and no one seems to have a fix. I don't know much about boats, learning as I go as I have always just fished off my friends boat. The previous owner said it only happened a few times to him and it was tested, and wasn't running hot either. He told me the impeller, water pump, thermostats were all replaced the season before I bought it. People are telling me it could be a bad gauge, loose ground wires, which I can't seem to find any...

Just hoping someone is able to share some knowledge on what it may be. Thanks in advance.

Just because it has a water out the tell tale does not mean it is cooling.

Temp stick or ir gun to tell temp.

Solid tone is also fuel restriction on that motor.

A fuel restriction/ lean condition will blow the motor just as fast.

I did temp stick it, multiple places on the heads read anywhere from 103-114 degrees on both sides. Should I be testing somewhere other then the heads where the spark plugs go in? And it's not a solid tone. It's on and off, a fading tone then loud again and the hot light on the rpm gauge lights up when it goes off. The alarm sometimes gets quicker then slows down depending on rpm's.

I've read where the different length of the alarm means different things, but there is no consistent length in tones of the alarm

Disregard my last post. Being a 1995 you don't have system check. Me Bad.
