I have the opportunity to purchase a 1995 Angler 170, bimini, trailer and a 75 HP motor that doesnt run right now for $2000.00.
Is this a half decent buy?

Mike, I think it is a good buy. It is likely the boat and trailer are worth that much. If you can get the motor to run with minimal expense, it is a steal.

what's the engine. that will either make or break the deal for me. check the compression, spark, and lower unit for water. check the steering, free moving, and the engine controlls. those little thing get expensive.

$2,000 for a boat with an engine that doesn't run and you don't know why is too much! Especially when you can get one with a running engine if you shop enough.. Engine repairs can get expensive. If you really want the boat, dicker for it.

Look at it this way. Do you want the aggravation of repairing it or do you just want to take it and run? Boats, cars, and women are all the same: there's always another one down the road!
