motor cranks at first touch runs great shut off cranks and runs great shut off and fish awhile motor won't start,, let set for maybe 30 min. cranks like a new one never know when it is going to crank or not---- will not stay tore up long enough to troubleshoot any suggestions?? thanks //// getting gas ok

Take a set of automotive jumper cables with you next time out. When the engine won't start, try jumping the starter direct from the battery. If the starter cranks and starts ok, the starter is likely just fine. Have a look at the starter solenoid-could be going bad. Could even be a problem with the key swtich. If they get rain water in them over the years, the can malfunction.

starter turns fine at all times, can switch still cause it not to fire?? Thanks

Check your spark when it won't start. That won't take very long. Spark should jump a 7/16 " open air gap.
