I bought a champion bass boat with a 200hp mariner mag. The speedometer doesnt work,I cleaned out the little hole on the lower unit, then I took the hose off the back of the speedometer and blow the hose out, then I traced the hose back to the motor. The dang hose is just hanging loose between the motor and transum. i have looked everwhere and i cant find where it connects.Does anyone have the same motor or know where it connects???

Should be connection coming out of the lower/mid section that is designed to hook up to get pressure.

OK, Im looking right at mine, there is an opening right behind the forward most nut that holds the lower unit on, (Towards the front of the engine and its hard to see). I had to buy a new peice for mine once and I have another one if you need it. They are a cheap plastic peice of cr*p. You have to remove the lower unit to connect it. They are about $10.00 at your dealer.

Should come out the top of the lower unit around the bottom of where it swivels left and right. It will be just in front of the shift shaft that runs through the swivel shaft.

i have the same problem with my 200 hp mariner ['95 model]. i saw where the hose went in, but in order to put back in, will i have to pull the lower unit, and if so, how big a job is that. i think it only has like 3-4 bolts, but do i need to get it to a repair shop to have it done?

A lot cheaper just to install a new pick-up on the boat than to pay some shop $80-90 @hr to install a 20 cent piece of hose.
I was looking in my factory manual, I can see the hose, but there no instructions that I can find on installation or removal, I guess they just take for granted we should know that much. It looks like it slips onto a small nipple.

Like I said!

Its not that big of a problem, go ahead and do it and change the water pump while you are at it.

i would like to drop the lower unit myself, but i just don't know if i will throw anything out of whack. it should be fairly easy, but i don't want to try it and then end up w/ a bigger bill. the other option you are referring to is mounted to the back of the boat, is this correct?

I thank that ill just mount a new pick-up on the back. The one on the motor stayed stoped up all the time anyways. But first its time to go to the lake.......That Big One Is Waiting For Me....
