Recently traded for this boat...cranked it a few times on muffs only. After setting a few days, startup took several minutes for engine to intially "fire". Once started, engine ran fine, smooth idle, cold and warm idle functioned perfect. So....now that I've rigged everything up to get boat on water...tried to start boat on muffs one more time before hitting water, hasn't fired yet! Just wondering which component to attack first. Already checked kill wire at pack, no difference. No spark on any cylinder. Power pack, optical sensor, or stator? Tach still fluctuates while cranking, so stator is not totally gone? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance....

If motor does not crank fast there will be no spark !---Time to test the battery / cables / starter motor.------Do not crank for more that 10 seconds as the starter is easily damaged.----And you are pushing the key IN while cranking the motor over ??

Don't have any testing equipment for any of the ignition components, other than a volt meter...

Your engine is the newer optical type ignition. A little more complicated. You will find excellent ignition troubleshooting information on exactly your engine at this website: cdielectronics.com. This ignition parts supplier/vendor maintains a great library of precise ignition troubleshooting info. Get into their online troubleshooting guide and start at page 61. Go from there.

make sure you have pressureized the primer bulb... and then make sure you have pushed the key in and HELD IT IN for at least 8 seconds... then try to start...if it doesn't start in 15 seconds, go check the primer bulb again and re prime... then hold the key in before trying to start for another 8 seconds....

my v6 needed more crank time to fire over than my v4...for initial firing....it was just not getting enough gas to all the cylinders.... your issue MIGHT be the same!!

my 175 fast strike cranked fast as if it wasn't firing at all...then Bam...she finally fired... and I think it was when the gas finally made it to the spark!
