1994 Yamaha 115 Jet Drive: What octane fuel to run?

Owner's manual says '87 or better', but get the feeling from most folks posting that high octane may be a bad idea. Anything specific suggestions for this make/model/year?<br /><br />Thanks, Mike

My grandson has a fourwinns with 115 OMC jet. He is using 89 octane and Evinrude Ram injection oil. Works great.
