1994 suzuki 9.9

Hey guys I am at my old mans house and they have a 94 9.9 and it is overheating. we put a new impeller in and checked all the passages and they all seem clear . when I start the engine water spits out but stops immediatly and then nothing comes out at all. i have taken the thermostat out and there was some crap in it but after cleaning it didnt fix the problem . blew compressed air thru all the lines also.
