my friend has a1994 sea doo gtx 650cc and he is having problems, one: he has gone through 3 or 4 tanks of gas and it looks like he has not used any oil out of the tank. second: the engine runs very rough. he replaced the stater coil, armateur plate, and magneto fly wheel exactly as the book states. also his exhaust manifold studs broke and he replaced then the "muffler" came off the manifold. is this engine junk or is this some kind of adjustment?

Re: 1994 sea doo gtx engine problems

have you inspected the motor mounts? bet he has a couple of bad ones// as for the oil that ski should have pre mix by now but the oil pump needs to be checked for the timing mark and see if it is set lean there is a couple of marks on the front of the pump to check and be sure his cable is operating the cam on the front of the pump also. once you fix the motor mounts turn the idle up and it will idle a little smoother but those do idle pretty rough as a rule as for the 3 bolts and 1 stud those break all the time, I re thread the 3 bolt holes with a us/3/8 tap and buy 3 stainless 3/8 bolts and replace the 8mm factory bolts with the 3/8 bolts and they stop breaking,, don't even need to drill the holes just re tap them, just leave the one stud as it is, I got mad at my 2000gti one day the 4 broke off and I drilled and tapped them with 10mm Allen cap bolts from a 951 engine those will be there forever, but that isn't really necessary the 3/8 work fine. and by now his exhaust manifold bolts are probably ready to fall out if they are not seized in place from corrosion so he needs to check those and tighten them if necessary
