1994 Merc 60HP 3 cyl Stainless tilt tube

I have a 60HP serial # D205170 Merc outboard. Is there a way to cross reference a tilt tube that comes on my outboard to a stainless steel one? I would like to get a hold of a stainless tube, so I don't have ongoing maintenance issues.

I was going to replace the steering pin assy in the winter time, which would be a good time to do the tilt tube.
I have heard Mariner was made for saltwater conditions? Any tips would be appreciated. Pat

is it possible to go down to Lowes or home depot to get a piece of pipe and get it threaded to do this also? What schedule is my tilt tube... I know it is 12 inches long and 1'' 14... Is it possible to do this? What type of metal is the origonal tube made of.. I have a 1984 merc 115

No as original tube is 1.035 O.D x 12 1/8 long and it is turned down to 7/8 on cable end... Just use the information posted as it fits yours also.
