Just bought a 25HP 1994. The top cylindar has 105 psi and the lower is 52 psi. Can "I" have the cylindar HONED OUT and new rings or am I going to have to find another entire top end? Runs rough, and seems like head gasquet not blown? Think it must be the piston/cyl? Any suggestions about trying to fix or should I just PART IT OUT? I only paid 75 bucks for it. Thanks for any input. D.

I'm rebuilding my 18 merc (mine as well be a 25..it all comes down to carb throat size) and it's running me about $300. That's without over sizing, and includes new powerhead gasket kit, composite reeds, crank seals, ebay rod/piston assy, new rings, loctite 518 for the case halves, and new rod bearings.... This is if you do the cylinder yourself....
