1994 merc 115

I have a 94 nitro 180tf with a merc tracker pro series 115 on it...the other day i launched it to go fishing and it started and ran fine for most of my mile run upriver to my spots got about 3/4 there and the motor just stopped running, went to start it and it just clicks...there was no noise or anything just like i shut the key off any idea what couldve happened?

Sounds electrical. Since the starting system and ign system are both affected, and they are not connected, except at the main harness plug and the ign switch, check those two places.

Look for broken wires, corroded wires. Also check the main fuse. That doesn't affect the ign, but it would affect the starter operation.

See if you can turn the flywheel all the way around by hand.

Flywheel wont turn the starter engages so shes toast...time for a 4 stroke i guess... sucks tho this motor blew before (oil pump went out) got it rebuilt 2 seasons ago bypassed oil pump mixed gas etc...ive read these motors were lemons...too bad i didnt know that b4 i got it rebuilt lol ugggh

Take the lower unit off and see if it turns. Those were actually good motors

Never done that before i can give it a try i have my doubts tho i saw some metal shavings in there...
