I just boat the boat and with this engine. The dealer put a new fuel pump in it and represented the engine as working fine. I took it out a few days ago and made two 10 second runs at full throttle. It ran fine but then it just died and would not re-start (would turn over, just not start running). I examined the engine and saw that the arm leading from the quick idle (?) to the carb had popped off the ball joint. I placed it back on but engine would not start. After many tries I finally got it to start by pumping the choke on the key. When I stopped pressing it, the engine died. I've had this happen before and it ment clogged carbs/jets. But would this still be true if the engine ran perfect for about 20 seconds prior to stopping? The only other thing I can think of is that debris became lodged in the carb (there are 2 fuel filters connected).

Since I can get the engine to idle somewhat, I'm wondering if I could remove the idle screw (and/or something else) and spray cleaner into the carb to possibly get it to run better. If I can get it to idle, I would like to try adding OEM Tuner to the gas. I'd like to avoid removing and cleaning the carbs but it that is what I need to do, I will. Any thoughts on this?
