Have a problem with my 25 hp ever since moving to a higher altitude (moved from sea level to about 5,000 ft.) Actually, it is 2 issues. 1) cannot get the engine to rev as high as it used to; it feels like the throttle (tiller control) is very tight to move in the full throttle direction with very slow response; and 2) while I am going at a steady throttle, close to if not full throttle, it will cut out momentarily, about a second.
Insight would be appreciated.Thanks.

you need to consult with a dealer in your area, they have a better handle on this. it is due to elevation, and the oxygen level. tightness of linkage, may need cleaning and lubrication.

Problem resolved with the simple replacement of the spark plugs. I had neglected to inspect or change them for quite some time. Actually, the porcelain on one of them cracked when I took it off and the gap was way off (supposed to be .030 and it was .050; the other one was .040). The throttle no longer feels tight and it is no longer slow to respond.
The engine ran great today. However, it still does not goes as fast as it used to at sea level. I have read that a lower pitched prop might help get the rpms up a little to accomodate the higher altitude.
