Hello I have a 1994 175 i am getting some water on top right spark plug. I know these motors don't use head gaskets, but 0 rings. also use sealer around water water ports or water jackets area. compression is good 115 if I recall or 125 psi. It dont happen all the time but enought that its becoming a pain to change plugs when it does happen. dose this sound like maybe sealer dried up in top cyl area and is getting on plug? I would think head gasket is ok because of compression but if take apart will replace all 3 anyway.
Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Frank

I have the exact same motor and thankfully have not had that problem. If you search here for "glue seam" you will find quite a bit of information. Basically it's caused by a flaw in the casting.

I forgot to ask, just out of curiosity, how many ours do you have on your motor?

Hello and thanks for the info. I really couldn't tell you I bought the boat and motor a yr ago end of season got a good deal. The guy I bought it from was a boat flipper on the side. Turned out he is a Vet. And me as well so pretty much gave it to me for what he bought it for, so he says lol. The motor is extremely clean gengot from original owner and I can see the lower was rep,ace looks new slightly diff off white in color. Even under the hood well maintained. Runs great except that problem. All cyl compression about the same but bottom lower right down to 70 may be gasket but from what I been told common pron on those type and yr motor.
Thanks will ck out glue seam like. You suggested.

If its a leaker better to find a different motor. The engine has to be torn down and block pressure tested .To repair the sleeve has to be pulled, glue line welded and then cylinder remachined, new sleeve and pressure test to see if other leaks. Usually cheaper to find a different block/motor and have tested.
