1994 Four Winns 302 Ford OMC

Board,<br /><br />I own a 1994 Four Winns Sundowner with a 5.0 Ford. Now she runs great. Starts up everytime, runs great. But I have two issues I want to ask about. <br /><br />1st issue is when I'm idling she tends to smoke a little. Its a nuicense more than anything else. I checked the oil and the oil level hasn't moved all season. Now I changed the oil to Synthetic at the beginning of the season. Does anyone know if thats the reason why she smoking when I'm idling? Are there any other ideas?<br /><br />Also, are there any other 5.0 Fords faster than 40mph at 4500-5000rpms? I'm running 19 stainless.??<br /><br />Thanks Rene G

Do you have the 205-or 225.<br />I have 205 with 155 hp o/b. We are getting about 42+-ish fully loaded. <br />The 155 and the v8 are comparable according to the spec sheet I got from 4winns. <br /><br />I've made up my mind that this is like a family 4 door low performance station wagon. We boat in very very busy chain of lakes in Illinois. Water gets real rough. 2-3ft waves This boat handles it like a dream.

It's the 205 hp. and I boat on Sebago Lake in Maine. That lake is just like an ocean but at the same time can be a smooth as a pond. Even in the smooth water, she's only goes about 40mph. Now I'm ok with that just as long as she is running ok. I'm reving about 4500rpms when doing 40mph.

In smooth water, I would think you should be getting a bit more speed out of your boat. Maybe time for a tune up clean the carbs out. At one point we used the omc engine tune spray. Made the boat scoot along even better. <br />If your not using oil, I would not be overly concerned about the oil. Check make sure your not leaking it on the block.
