Does anyone know the weight of a 1994 Force 40hp electric (without trim) 20" long shaft?
I'm thinking of upgrading to a newer used 4 cycle in 25hp to 40hp range, but they seem to be much heavier than my old 2cycle. I just can't compare since don't know what it weighs now. It would be placed back on to a 1971 15' Aluminum Starcfaft (Holiday model) closed bow . The hull was rated in 1971 for a max, of 50hp but that was before 4 cycles became popular. I'm concerned about the extra weight placed on the transom. Thanks

Sorry for the late response, but the new forum software seems to have locked many of us out of the forums until today.

Would you sit or stand on the transom with your current motor in place?
If so, the transom will likely handle the extra weight.

4 strokes are fine motors with a number of good features. But just too many moving parts roughly 8 times more than a similar 2 stroke.this adds weight and maintenance.Stick with a 2 stroke.
