Good afternoon everyone! While cleaning my engine on my 1993 OMC 50FAPRJVN 5.0 EFI I noticed that the hose from the flame arrestor was not connected to anything. I see where I think it goes but wanted to clarify before I plugged it in anywhere. In addition, the hose seems to stop about an inch from the flame arrestor, is that normal? I've included some pictures in case I'm confusing everyone hahaha. Thanks in advance!

The hose should be connected to the oil fill as you show in your second photo. The hose does stop short of the surface of the flame arrestor. The hose is meant to allow gases (blowby) in the crankcase to be collected and burned in the combustion chambers.

Thanks for your help!!! Also probably explains why the engine compartment was so dirty this year haha. This forum has been amazing for someone like me who is only mechanically savvy enough to get himself in trouble, everyone here has been great!
